Plan Your Week: The Key To A More Manageable Schedule

Plan Your Week

Following on from the previous post on the four-day work week, if you want to plan your week to spend less time at work or if you just want to get a handle on your week as it is, then planning will make it a reality.

Whether you just want to get a head start on the week, find time to actually work on your tasks and projects or have more time for yourself, having a clear plan for your week is key, especially when juggling multiple projects or balancing family commitments.

Once you start to make time to plan your week and map out your priorities, you're in a better position to:

✅ Reduce overwhelm – Get a more realistic idea of what you can actually achieve.

✅ Avoid last-minute stress – No more scrambling to finish tasks or wondering what to do next.

✅ Stay focused on what matters – Prioritise what moves you forward instead of reacting to whatever pops up.

✅ Create breathing space – Planning allows you to structure your time in a way that includes breaks and prevents burnout.

The more intentional you are with your time, the more control you have over your schedule, whether you work a traditional five-day week, want to try something different or just feel less rushed all the time.

What's Holding You Back?

What's stopping you from making time to plan your week for what really matters? Is it all those meetings? Often, it's reacting to constant demands or getting distracted by everything else.

What don't you have time for that you need or want to do more of? If you're constantly reacting or playing catch-up, you don't get the time to plan and think and this is important - having time to plan ahead, to think more strategically.

You need to be more proactive and in control of your time if you want things to change. Otherwise you remain stuck and if you keep doing what you've always done ... nothing will change.

Planning isn’t about packing more in, it’s about making space for what matters.

And, as I've said before, if you want it to happen, you need to actively make it happen, not just hope for the best or ... "one day, some day".

How will you plan your week and what will you prioritise?
