Feeling stressed, anxious, depressed or overwhelmed? Get out into nature.
Research has shown that the sights and sounds of nature can calm you down, help you to relax, de-stress and improve your mood.
This time of year is a great time to be outdoors. Days are getting longer and warmer. There’s more daylight at the beginning and end of the day. Trees that have been bare over winter are bursting into blossom and leaf. Spring flowers are brightening up lawns and flowerbeds, filling the air with scent and there’s birdsong from trees and bushes.
Get outside once a day. Whether it’s on your daily commute to work, during your lunch break or for a walk at the beginning or end of the day. Find your nearest green space – your garden, a park or the countryside, where you can walk or sit. Breathe in the fresh air, feel the warmth of the sun, listen to the sounds around you
If you can’t get outdoors, download one of the many meditation apps like Insight and listen to one of the nature sounds tracks. They’re great for sending you off to sleep too.

I love taking a walk to our garden whenever I feel stressed out. Just seeing a tiny bit of nature within the city makes me feel relaxed.
